The Increasingly Urgent Need for Solar Energy

–Philip J Reed, on behalf of Westwood College

solar panelsWe all know it’s coming: the environmental event horizon. That is to say, the point of no return. Treat the planet badly enough and, eventually, it will no longer be able to recover. How close are we? Closer than we think, probably, and we can’t keep dragging our feet in the hope that the problem will somehow take care of itself…or that somebody will appear and take care of it for us.

Interestingly, a solution to the problem has appeared; we just need to implement it. We have the technology, and it’s becoming more affordable every year. What’s more, it’s nothing new. It’s a power that has been employed by civilized society as far back as ancient Greece. It’s time-tested, it’s clean, it’s self-renewing, and it works.

So what is it?

power. The answer is in our laps, and we just need to start using it.

There are many ways that we can go about repairing the planet, and, overall, people are doing it. Trees are planted every day, companies are reducing their hazardous emissions, and children are taught from their first year in school of the importance of . But one major step that we can all make (and that comparatively few of us have made) is a conversion to .

Any home or can benefit from such a conversion. By reducing your reliance on traditional grid-delivered electricity, you not only severely reduce or eliminate your power bills, you make an enormous push forward for environmental health.

The first and most recognized benefit is obviously a lower carbon footprint and a focus towards environmentally friendly practices that will influence your children, your friends, your neighbors, your competitors, your clients, and…well…everybody. People take notice of a relatively large commitment to the environment, and a personal or professional conversion to power is certainly an admirably large commitment!

Your conversion can easily (and such conversions often do) kick off a fantastic snowball effect. By setting the standard, you serve as a reminder of environmental responsibility for all those around you. And, for that, future generations will be exceedingly grateful.

And in addition to the environmental benefits, did you know that when you rely on solar power, any excess that is generated over and above what you home needs is required by law to be purchased from you by your local power company?

Imagine that, not only are you not paying a utility bill, you’re actually being paid for what you don’t use!

By hiring a Green Certified installer, you’re sure to be in great hands. The installation will be taken care of for you, and your only responsibility from that point forward is to serve as a beacon of local eco-friendliness. Anyone who has a construction management degree (or even anyone who has attended a construction school) should have a handle on the workings of solar panels, but, as always, it’s safer (and far more convenient) to entrust the responsibility to the professionals.

The time is now. We can’t pretend any longer that everything is alright with our world. Solar installations on a wider scale can help tip the environmental balance back in our favor. Be the first in your neighborhood or within your circle of friends to step up to the plate, and start making a global difference.
