Clean Technology Startup Offers 100% Green Solar-Powered Web Hosting for Business and Consumers AlwaysOn GoingGreen 2007

SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Greenest Host, a pioneer of green powered Internet services, today announced worldwide availability of its 100% solar powered web hosting plans. Like most web hosting companies, Greenest Host offers a suite of services that allow users to host websites, register domains, host email accounts, and build their own custom web presence. What makes the company unique is their green technology data center, which operates 100% of the time on clean solar energy.

The company has combined cutting edge green power technology with custom, easy-to-use account management software, point-and-click website development tools, and world-class ecommerce software. For the first time, consumers and small businesses have the freedom to sign up for a green technology web hosting account, build a web presence, and know that with every web visitor’s click they are reducing carbon emissions. And for every new account created through the end of 2007, Greenest Host will donate $5 to the Environmental Defense Fund – up to $500,000.

“The idea for such a venture developed out of our firsthand experience with data center operations. Ask any data center operations person how power and cooling-hungry most web servers are,” said Mike Corrales, President and CEO of Greenest Host. “When we ran the numbers, we were astounded by how much pollution can be reduced when switching to green technology hosting. Greenest Host literally produces zero carbon emissions.”

“It is important to note that this is NOT a green solution because we are buying [tag-tec]Renewable Energy Credits[/tag-tec] or carbon offsets,” said Corrales, “it is energy from the sun that powers our web servers and data center cooling day and night. We are not paying a penance for our emissions sins, we are just not committing the sins in the first place.”

Greenest Host is also sponsoring the Green Power Inside “Million Green Powered Website” campaign, where the goal is to convert one million websites to clean power, resulting in pollution reductions equivalent to:

* 2,000 passenger cars not driven for one year
* 1,070,000 gallons of gasoline not burned
* 21,900 barrels of oil not burned
* 1,200 households not using electricity for a year
* 240,000 tree seedlings grown for 10 years
* 7,900 acres of pine or fir forests storing carbon for one year
* 77 acres of forest preserved from deforestation
* 48 railcars of coal not burned
* 3,200 tons of waste recycled instead of landfilled

Greenest Host web hosting plans start at $14.95 a month. More information about Greenest Host, it’s state-of-the-art clean powered data center, and its web hosting plans are available at http://www.greenesthost.com.

Greenest Host is changing the Internet web hosting landscape one website at a time, by offering zero emissions web hosting. The company powers all of its state-of-the-art servers and data center cooling with 100% clean solar power 100% of the time.

Researching Passive Solar Design - solar energy

Since fossil fuels are slowly renewable, integration of passive solar design is a strategically correct long-term perspective, as due to heavy dependency on the resource its price over time will be increasing. For countries with limited initial sources of fossil fuels, this can be a too heavy economic burden to carry. When creating price scenarios for natural gas and crude oil, scientists use several variables. They include the current forward market for the product, current prices ion the market, external price forecasts, the historical trends. In such way, even if the growing demand for fossil fuels is ignored considering increasing scarcity of these resources, natural gas prices will reach $5.00 by 2015, $5.50 by 2025, and $7.50 by 2025.

It should be noted, that inflation is not considered in the price scenario, prices should be viewed in terms of current value per dollar. The current trend of technologies employed in passive solar design of building will be going the opposite direction, as a technological advance alongside with cost efficiency is predicted for solutions implemented in solar design as demand for them will be increasing. In such way, passive solar design of buildings is cost efficient in the long run especially for countries with limited crude oil and natural gas resources, as the dependency of these countries on foreign oil and gas will only be increasing alongside with the price per gallon. Integration of passive solar design makes houses more affordable, comfortable, and energy-efficient.

Implementation of passive solar design solutions is cost efficient, minimizes energy consumption and dependency on renewable sources of energy, is environmentally clean, and can be easily implemented at any geographic location. Practical implementation of the solutions also proved to be effective. Going even further then this, in the light of limited resources, implementation of passive solar design solutions is a step forward towards a greater level of efficiency and economic freedom in the future. As such, it is my firm belief that passive solar design is one of the most efficient ways to minimize energy consumption at any geographic location.

Electric Cars in Demand

electric car
carazoo.com asked:

The environmental hazards have created awareness among the people and to save the earth every one is contributing in some or the other way. A metro like Delhi has taken the initiative of saving nature.  More people are opting for eco-friendly cars now. Alternative fuels like CNG and LPG has changed basic transportation in the Capital and close to 10% of private cars run on it  and now it is the time for the electric car to make its presence. Electric cars are not only affordable but also environmental-friendly. An electric car spends upto only 40 paisa per kilometer. Another good thing about this car is, it is easy and simple to drive. The only demerit it has is the low speed and short traveling range but the manufacturers are also working on that issue. The government is also taking steps to popularize the electric vehicles as an emission free transport solution to tackle rising pollution and congestion. As an initiative, the government has scrapped the excise duty on electric cars. Presently, an electric car prices start from Rs 3.28 lakh and which will be now cheaper by Rs 35,000.  The electric car will pick up its sales very fast as the fuel prices will go high very soon. To make these vehicles more acceptable, specially to de-congest the national capital which has the highest number of vehicles in India, electric vehicle companies are also approaching the adjoining Haryana and Uttar Pradesh state governments to extend similar benefits for all such vehicles. Presently Maini REVA is the sole player in this segment but now there are more companies who are planning to roll out electric cars. Ajanta- the Indian clock makers also plans to roll out electric car that will be cheaper than Tata Nano.
